Panel and Project

It's still unclear on whether this panel will function, but this i will do for now. I'm supposed to have four people for my review panel and so far I have only three. My review panel will have: Jeremy Duncan, Vic Asrani(mentor), and Eliot Tucker(Board Member) or his son-in-law,(who I have not met or know, but is said to be familiar with a lot of film and movie type technology). Jeremy Duncan is a math teacher and Varsity Soccer Coach at the Chinquapin School. He is also quite familiar with how technology runs around the school campus and has helped me throughout my senior project with film clips and ideas. Vic Asrani, my college mentor, is an architect who, even though doesn't have a lot of experience with film, enjoys movies and is gladly willing to give any input and ideas as to how to make my movie project better. Now Eliot Tucker is a man whom I had the pleasure to meet at an opera and through his love for such entertainment I chose him as well, to help me out with this project. Little is known about him, but he is a great person to talk to and I have enjoyed his company. In his case, he doesn't know much, but will help in any way and, also he has a son-in-law who recently made a movie and published it nationwide through PBS. His help and, hopefully his son-in-law's, will come in handy and I hope to talk to them soon. The evaluation of this project though will consists of creativity, message, was it educational/inspiring and other factors such as if I had an understanding as to what I was doing and if my project went well.
My research wasn't much, regretfully I must say, but I went out to find the movie that I thought provided a key message and a story to relate to the audience. Even though my project was more based on my life, I see that the movies I used for my project will make a point and provide motivation for others to incorporate certain elements that the film or movie contains and use them in their lives. The movies I have studied and will use for my project are: The Lion King, Remember the Titans, and Band of Brothers miniseries. These movies are the essential are the foundation for this project apart from the message I'm to give during or throughout the film. Yet, my greatest challenge, during and throughout the winter break, would be to actually see what I am to do for my project and how not just show the movies in to an audience at my school, but perhaps look up successful presentations in which hand outs can be passed around and questions are to be answered. Not about the movie itself, but how it makes the audience feel and think. Perhaps even have them write a short paragraph describing their emotions or the way they think should have have been made. A bigger, and perhaps too big, I would want to contact Tom Hanks or Steven Spielberg, not just because they did the Band of Brothers miniseries well, but also ask questions and help me get a better idea as to make my project better.
After all this I hope my project comes out well and makes a lasting impact to Chinquapin students and perhaps other people around the world.

Movie Build Character

Recently I discovered someting rather extraordinary. I found out that all this time, even though I knew I wanted to do something based on film, I've been doing mostly everything wrong. Tahnsk to my teacher I see that now I ahve a clear idea to talk about. Forget about me doing a video of my own or everything based on making film. I enjoy film and movies, but in order to do so I have to provide an idea in which film or movies have helepd me come up with this marvelous idea to share with everyone. To present how movies have helpd me develop into teh young man today is waht I want to convey to people. WAtching movies are intellectual and entertaining, but they help us see things in a differnt way and give us options to how it can change our perspectives about things. I want to talk about how three great movies/narratives/videos have helped me think and have my own personal mentaility and view about certain things. Lion King, Remember the Titans and Band of Brothers all have taught me somehting and have incorporated in one way or the other a characteristic in me and in my own personal life. So my idea is to urge people to watch moveis and not only watch it for entertainment, but also to specifically understand the content that the movie or video contains is what makes movie great, but also help people understand how different opinions and views surround us everyday.

Movies and Trailers

I further want to expand my research by sharing these two movies links. As usual a trailer is used to show an audience what a movie is supposed to be based upon and in doing so I can show how film captures interest through a short movie trailer clip. Also I want to show clips from movies that I find most appealing not only because of the message it conveys, but also how the visual effects and storyline affects the viewers idea of how the movie is like.
Below are the movie clips I want to present and show as examples of how film stimulates interest.
Band of Brothers Trailer
Band of Brothers
Short Clip from Remember the Titans

Review

It's been a struggle, but I finally have my ideas set. I'm not prepared just yet, but in using film as my main point for students to gain interest, I contemplated how I was to persuade students or people in general to see that film has an impact in our lives. Previously, I said I wanted to have Chinquapin students, primarily, involved in this project. It can stimulate a great reaction because in wanting to convey a fun and educational environment for my film, I want to show students interact with other students and teachers alike. Through much thought and wrestling with different views of how to provide a TED talk that will captivate an audience I thought that I can show clips of movies that have inspired or shown some sort of style that I like. Yet, not only am I displaying movie clips from the movies I've seen, but also I'm showing examples of the things that make a film interesting. Whether it be the message, trailer, or style that it conveys, it helps captivate an audience and show that film can be informative and joyful at the same time. To provide students with this service of having them express their own ideas through film production is a unique and grand idea that can not only help student show their brilliance in this art form, but also show teachers and possibly the world that film has an everlasting impact in people's minds.

Day of Film

Since my project is based on film I found this film on TED.com where Jehane Noujaim, the 2006 TED prize winner, talks about how a global day of film can really help the world to be creative and appreciate film as a whole. its a logical desire for film has brought about happiness and entertainment to our homes and has improved over the years with visual and audio effects. Filming movies, documentaries, or school projects all allow a person to interact with different materials and understand the concept of film more clearly by working with it. It allows creativity and can display a show of emotions, ideas and opinions.

In the video provided Noujaim gives many examples of different film, but now a days its usually used for media or entertainment purposes. Of course there's nothing wrong with that, but that sometimes film can convey the wrong message, such as her amazing documentary, Control Room, where the Iraq War was covered by the contrasting ideas from the US media and al Jazeera. Even though the media can cause a lot of debate, Noujaim only wants to express her opinions about how film can have a great influence on other people's minds and opinions on certain subjects.

Our House!

Since the first film made for the Chinquapin School, I have been inspired by it to make my own films with my camera or rather take pictures. Due to the many movies I've seen in recent years, I have always wanted to film my own film that shows an audience what I'm trying to say. Whether it be a war, romance or comical film, I want to propose a film in which only music is played and show the different ways students interact and have fun throughout the day. Of course a college preparatory education isn't all that bad, but also there's fun involved in education and a typical usually consists of fun and studious times. It would be a film with different clips ranging from sports, classes, study hall, dining room, and dorm life. Of course, not only would I want to play music in the background with no dialogue, but I would also bring in dialogue once in a while to not make the film so boring and repetitive. Of course this cannot be done without a camera and the cooperation of the student body. But I want to " catch" students in the moment of their fun times. This, of course, will be conducted in school hours, with the time I am permitted, and will show both student and teachers have a fun day. I would want to have the help of Craig Duncan, my college mentor, Ryan, and my other mentor, Carlos Gonzalez. For my review panel I would want Susan Davis, Craig Duncan, Dale Dilworth, and Ryan Tucker.
